When to Schedule

It is best to schedule a newborn session before your baby arrives to ensure your date is available. You will be placed on the calendar based on your due date…. then we wait. I look forward to hearing from Dad (or Mom, if she is up to it) when baby arrives! The key to a successful newborn session is photographing them within the first ten days of life. This will enable me to capture those “curled up and sleepy” poses. Newborns often sleep less and lose some of their “womb-like” flexibility after ten days.

Maternity sessions are often best between 32-37 weeks.

I love getting out to a variety of different locations, so I currently shoot on-location. I will travel up to an Hour and Ten minutes from my home in Hanover, PA at no additional charge. There is a travel fee added onto locations outside of that range

Your Newborn Session - Before & During

Newborn sessions generally average around three hours to complete. Your session will be held from the comfort of your own home. As an all natural light photographer, I will require a space to set up with windows or a large source of light. I will arrive with all of the props necessary, but often incorporate sentimental touches from within the home (baby blankets, nursery, etc.)

Prior to my arrival please plan on turning up the heat in your home. Baby will spend a great portion of the session in the nude, so let’s keep it toasty!! I will also arrive with a portable heater to keep the temperature up. During the time while I set up, I request that you remove all clothing from baby and wrap in a blanket. Then plan on feeding your little one. Newborns often sleep a little sounder with a full belly… Don’t we all?!

Now that it is warm and baby’s belly is full it is time to get to work. During your intended session time it is requested that we keep company to a minimum to maintain a calm atmosphere. Mom- you are going to be on the sideline as well during this time. Your baby can smell you and that is pretty exciting stuff to “him”, but we need baby to stay calm. If Dad is around we may put his hands to use on occasion. If baby takes a pacifier, I will also keep that on hand as a calming agent.

After your session

Within 3-6 weeks from your session an online, password protected viewing gallery will be made available to you. In the time leading up to that you can expect some sneak peeks to pop up on my Facebook page or blog. Images placed on Facebook may be used on your own personal page, but please do not remove the watermark or alter the images in any way. Once payment has been received, you can expect to receive your final product within three weeks (unless otherwise specified).

A quick note about prints: All images are cropped using the original in-camera crop. With that in mind, some images may require individual crop adjustments prior to being placed into an 8×10 format.
